Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series
Rebecca Sonnenshine (nominated for The Boys) spoke with the AMPAS blog about launching her career with the feature The Keeping Hours. She shared thoughts on being good in a room with Scott Myers, and took part in a Q&A session with writers for The Boys via The Hollywood Reporter.
Peter Morgan (nominated for The Crown) delivered a lecture on writing political history and spoke to the WGA about dramatizing the lives of public figures. Screencraft condensed a list of tips writers can learn from Morgan’s work. For a deeper dive, the New York Times profiled Morgan’s relationship to the British monarchy (and mentions one of his earliest film jobs doing rewrites on King Ralph).
Yahlin Chang (The Handmaid’s Tale) has her nominated episode explored in an the Eyes on Gilead podcast. She took part in the WGA panel “The Stories We Tell” with Cherry Chevapravatdumrong, Dee Johnson, and Jenny Lynn.
Misha Green (nominated for Lovecraft Country), spoke with the 3rd & Fairfax Podcast about breaking in as a writer. NPR’s Fresh Air featured a conversation with Green about representation in genre fiction and building her writing team. Green also talked with KCRW about her horror genre fandom.
Two writers from The Mandalorian were nominated. Dave Filoni spoke with George Lucas about their work on The Clone Wars, and what he learned from the experience. Jon Favreau spoke with the WGA about the show’s interaction with its fandom.

Brad Ingelsby (nominated for Mare Of Easttown), spoke with Rodrigo Perez about the limited series, and talked to Joseph Santoliquito about growing up in the Philly suburbs and its influence on the show.
Scott Frank (nominated for The Queen’s Gambit) featured in two episodes of Scriptnotes:
Episode 476 “The Other Senses,” which focused primarily on The Queen’s Gambit.
Chuck Hayward, Peter Cameron, Jac Schaeffer, and Laura Donney split three nominations for WandaVision between them. Showrunner Jac Schaeffer sat down with John for Scriptnotes Episode 503 “When You’re Given the Character” to talk about working with an existing Marvel character. She also moderated a Zoom conversation with the writing team.
